Thank you!
April 9th, 2008
As of 9:04 Eastern time today, Ravelry is out of debt!
Thanks to the generous donations that we have received from 4,794 Ravelers over the past year, all of our startup expenses are now paid off and we are in the black! Our users are the best! Thank you so much everybody! On top of that, we’ve been able to purchase a much needed additional server. If you’ve noticed that invites have slowed during the last few days, have no fear - help is on the way.
HUGE thanks to Julie Frick and all of the people who are participating in the Ravelraising - more than 25% of our total donations have come during the last 5 days.
We’ve also got to thank our 400+ advertisers - you guys are keeping us going. Thank you so much for supporting us.
Excuse the goofy picture - it is hard to use the self-timer when there is a dog involved!

April 9th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Aww, I’m glad that things are going well. I am sorry I wasn’t able to donate in the last few days. Things at home are just horrible. Hopefully we’ll be back on our feet soon. I love the pic of you three…we’ll look for you at Maryland Sheep & Wool!!!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Actually, you guys rock. This site is the best thing since sliced bread. I enjoy it so much, and (sort of believing in Karma and all) I’m sure it’s going to bring you great things.
April 9th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
YAY!!! This is just so exciting, I’m so proud and happy. Ravelers are the *BEST!* :)
April 9th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
It’s the least we could do.
THANK YOU!!!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
oh, YAY! i’m sooo happy for you guys. who woulda thought a year ago that Ravelry would turn into what it is today? it’s sorta crazy when you think about, but in very very good way! congrats!
and thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing ravelry into our lives. i honestly don’t know how i lived my life without it. :)
April 9th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
No, thank *you*! I could donate every single day for the next ten years and I still wouldn’t feel as though it equated what I take away from this site. The patterns, the knowledge, the support from other knitters, the laughs….I can’t put a price on it. Thank you so much for creating and maintaining Ravelry. *hugs and warm cookies*
April 9th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
I was glad to help out - Ravelry has touched my life in a way that goes way beyond knitting. I could go on forever about it (but only if you were interested) - suffice it to say THANK YOU. I’m glad we could do our little part.
April 9th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
So happy for you!!! Keep up the excellent and now lucrative work!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
That’s so freaking AWEsome! Y’all deserve it!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Seriously, I would be more than happy to pay $1.00 a month for Ravelry. And with over 100,000 people, well, you do the math!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
No, THANK YOU two. You’ve done an amazing thing for the community, it’s really the least we could do for you.
Here’s to many restful nights for you both. :)
April 9th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Whoo hoo! Let’s keep up the good work, Ravelraisers! It really is awesome to see what a bunch of fiberaholics can do when they want to!
:)
April 9th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Hooray! It’s such a good feeling to help your friends, even if they’re friends you never met in person yet.
You guys deserve every good thing we can give you and then some. You’ve given us all so much - it’s great to give back. :D
April 9th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Worth every penny! When I consider how much I use Ravelry, the pittance I’ve sent isn’t enough :)
April 9th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Thank you three! (can’t leave out Bob!)
How great to be doing well. You deserve all the support that you have gotten from your fans/users/ravelers! I will be hitting the Ravelraisers site, myself, as it has been too long since buying nearly everything from your booth at Stitches West!!
Congratulations!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Congrats Jess and Casey! It’s so awesome to see what was once just a little fledgling idea blossom into a reputable business. And you help so many people, too!! Woot! Woot!!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Cool and congrats and thanks. i love ravelry and use it often, too often. happy to do my small part! Someday, you’ll rest again but then you won’t have as much fun!!!!
April 9th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
But how could you have a picture without Bob? :)
Seriously, I just want to echo the sentiments heard here. I can’t imagine life before ravelry. I have even told people I run into in craft stores about it! I have only been able to donate twice but I would do it every day if I could. No amount of money could compensate for what I have gotten out of the patterns/people/groups/threads/knowledge/help etc. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. Thank you Jess, Casey, and most importantly Bob :) for all you do. You may never know how much you have touched and enriched us all by your vision and effort but believe me you have. May you and ravelry be around for a long long time.
April 9th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Hooray hooray! I love this place so much, thank you!

April 9th, 2008 at 9:06 pm

I could get all eloquent and such, but I think everyone’s said it pretty darned well already. But will repeat one thing: Thanks again for Rav!

April 9th, 2008 at 9:17 pm

agree(2000) !
April 9th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Well, you have a pretty good idea how much we all love this site.
But this also speaks volumes about your good business sense, too! Not too many businesses are able to pay off their startup costs AND expand the business within a single year. Good job!!
April 9th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
I’m almost too distracted by how gorgeous you all look to care about the great new! But great news it is!
April 9th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
sincerely; Ravelry changed my life “in real life”
no words could thank y’all enough.

April 9th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
So super duper awesome. I have put my tiny drop in the bucket. I came to the conclusion that you are my internet brethren (I work for a PBS station) and I gotta pay.
Thank you for Ravelry. It’s the best site ever.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Congrats! Ravelry is an amazing, inspiring project - not just knitwise, but lifewise, too. You lived your dreams and took risks to make Ravelry happen and have created beautiful connections for all of us. Thank you! Ravelry is wonderful!
April 9th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
You guys are - as my sister inlaw says - as cute as Christmas. I recommend this site to everyone. I’m working at the Obama campaign office in my neighborhood in PA and they love all the Obama gear I’ve gotten - yarn(s), tees, bumper stickers. They also love that so many people are on the forum (as opposed to the pitiful number on the Hillary forum). Keep up the good work. Thanks for doing this. JoAnn Erfer
April 9th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Eep! I just want to tweak his nose and rub his tummy.
And Bob is cute, too.

April 10th, 2008 at 1:34 am

(I have yet to donate as I am not working right now but as soon as I get a job and am cash flow positive, a nice donation to Ravelry is the first discretionary spending I’ll be doing!)
April 10th, 2008 at 1:44 am
Great beans!
Now I’m just on the lookout for your merchandise.
You guys rock so hard!
April 10th, 2008 at 1:45 am

This site is so awesome. I have been so inspired in my knitting because of Ravelry.
I do confess that I haven’t donated yet this time around but will after tomorrow(payday). I love this place. And I am eagerly waiting for the Store to open. My income tax refund should arrive in 10 days so get that store open. :-)

Thank *You* for this grand site. I enjoy Ravelry every day, have met some great people and have learned a number of things. I’ve stretched my knitting muscles thanks to you.
My donation here is the same thing as my membership in Public Radio - I do it because I want to and find it quite rewarding.
April 10th, 2008 at 5:42 am

The folks who are Ravelry’d are the BEST!! And you guys…you guys…..you guys….ROCK! Love ya Bob!
April 10th, 2008 at 6:52 am
Excellent news!
Do I hear AD/DC’s “Back in Black” playing in the background?
April 10th, 2008 at 7:00 am
The thanks all go to you- the crazy kids insane enough to build a site to hold all us wacky fiber people! Seriously, the first time that donate button appeared (last summer?), I was all over it. Giving back to a site that I happily call ‘home’ is something I’ll always gladly do over and over and over…
April 10th, 2008 at 7:12 am
Thanks for building a great resource and community. I’ve never donated money to a website before and now I’ve donated to Ravelry TWICE! Must be love.
April 10th, 2008 at 7:13 am
I am so sorry I am all broke right now, I promise to donate next time I have money! Ravelry is The.Best.Thing.EVER(tm) and you guys are my father Christmas, easter Bunny and tooth fairy combined! I give you all huge “hugses” and hope you feel the Ravelry community love!

I’m so glad that things are going well. I love Ravelry, and am waiting to get paid next week to donate to the Ravelraiser.
Thanks for all your hard work.
April 10th, 2008 at 8:52 am
That’s great news Jess! You guys deserve it - Ravelry is awesome, and you guys have worked so hard to make it that way.
Here’s to the future!!!
April 10th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Sorry, I didn’t hit the submit button on purpose! As I was saying….how could you not help but donate. I’ve already found a couple of patterns that I downloaded. That saved me a few $$$. Any endeavor that helps fiberholics unite is definitely worth it. I’ll try to make my donation a regular thing. After all, while I’m looking for the perfect group(s) for me, I can hit the button whenever I log on - (just don’t tell my husband!)
April 10th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Ravelry is changing the knitting industry! The concept of an online community that gathers all the design, source and technical information is sheer genius. You guys deserve the recognition. Making a small contribution is the least we can do!
Besides, we all care for Bob and want to know he never has to go a day with out a good biscuit!
Congratulations!!
April 10th, 2008 at 9:09 am
That is so cool. Congrats on getting into the black and thanks for creating such an awesome place for the knitting community to form.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:12 am
Whoo hoo!
April 10th, 2008 at 9:25 am
Yahoo!! That’s awesome. Isn’t is great how caring and generous the knitting community is? We are the best bunch out there and you couldn’t have picked a more caring “industry” to build a business in.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:35 am
Congrats!
And no…thank YOU.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:36 am

I’m so happy to see such an industrious young couple make it big with a great idea. I, too, have never donated to a website, but I am very happy to make my second donation to Jess & Casey. Let’s hope they make some money someday! I use Ravely ten times more than any other website.
April 10th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Awww, you guys take a cute pic!
So happy to hear we’ve got your bottom line over the zero mark! Ravelry is the best thing ever, and I have the means to offer some support so I’m glad to do so. I’m even more thrilled to see the “pay what you can” model WORKING, as I think lots of things should work this way.
April 10th, 2008 at 11:09 am
I’m so proud of you both. You’re amazing. Thanks!!
April 10th, 2008 at 11:09 am

April 10th, 2008 at 11:59 am
what terrific news! Thank YOU! This site is inspirational and an invaluable resource. As soon as I find out someone is a knitter I ask, “Have you heard of Ravelry?” At least half of them have aleady been registered when I mentioned it. The other half were instucted to look it up as soon as they got to a computer. You two are simply amazing!
April 10th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Congratulations - how thrilling for you guys. Ravelry really is the best.
: )
April 10th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
And, Bob’s gotten so big!
April 10th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Planet Ravelry is so wonderful; it is much nicer than the real one. Thank you for its creation.
I am amazed how frequent the title “Ravelry” is used in my daily life and is being recognized by other knitters and a few non-knitters. The WORD is out!
Thea

April 10th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Way Cool! You guys are a true American success story!
April 10th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Bob,
Please kiss those silly people surrounding you so that they’ll wake up and realize that *we* are the ones to say “thank you”. As so many have said before me, Ravelry has changed my life. No matter what I’m looking for — yarn, a pattern, a sale, a hug, a laugh, or simply distraction — I know I’ll find it on Ravelry. Tummy rubs for all!
April 10th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Brilliant, congratulations and the picture is just lovely - it shows some of Ravelry’s most important people (the rest of us are looking at you!!!)
Well done and thank you for spreading the knitted word around the world.

Thanks for everything you do!
Love Everything!
April 10th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
You guys have done many, many things for the craft. Ravelry has inspired me to keep knitting, and knitting, and knitting…. The fact that your vision is to keep the community free so everyone can enjoy it is just incredibly humble - we all know you could charge even a very small fee per user and make a fortune! Thank you, thank you!!
April 10th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Thank you Jess, Casey, and Bob for all that you do. I’ve been a member for almost a year now and it has been great to see this site evolve and grow — can’t wait to see what the future holds. Many thanks for all your dedication and hard work in creating and maintaining such a wonderful community! :-)
April 10th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
That totally rocks. The sky is now the limit! Thanks for the world’s greatest website. I preach the gospel of Ravelry to fiber folk everywhere I go….
April 10th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
WOW! Congrats! Also, I had no idea Dwight K. Schrute looked so handsome without his glasses on. Wait, what’s that? His name is Casey? Oh, my bad.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
I don’t know how knitting ever got along before Ravelry. You were a phenomena waiting to happen, and we all are so pleased to be a part of your success. Thank you.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
You guys are the best. You’ve given us all a home, which means more than you’ll ever know!
April 10th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
You have it wrong, you guys are the best. It’s really nice to see two young people doing something they love for others who love the same things and having fun doing it.
Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much
Loved April fools, oh to be a code monkey.
PS HI BOB
April 11th, 2008 at 2:46 am
Hooray (100)!
Thank you Jess, Casey and Bob for the wonder that is Ravelry. I don’t know what I would do without it now. I’ve made friends here and had some of the best laugh out loud moments at my desk ever! Would happily pay for such a great service, but there is something nice about having donations - nothing beats the warm fuzzy feeling you get from helping Ravelry grow.
April 11th, 2008 at 5:40 am
I considered it a privilege to put some $$$ down given all the good things you’ve done here and the great stuff still to come I’m sure. Thanks Jess, Casey & Bob for the best website ever!

Hi, Casey and Jess? (hope I’ve got that right)
Even though I am currently battling broke-ness, I couldn’t afford NOT to give you guys a donation. I think Ravelry has saved my life, that might sound dramatic but it’s really true. When I start a blog (soonsoonsoon) I’ll send you guys the story of how the Ravelry community has become my ‘higher power’ (people from AA will know what that means). So I send tons of love your way, and when I become the next Martha Stewart of knitting I’ll donate much more!

I’ll be donating for sure before the deadline.
Much love & hugs,
